Duties

The incumbent serves as the primary assistant to the National Institute of Health Director with responsibility for planning and executing the administrative management functions. Manages the daily activities of the Institute by carrying out and coordinating all the clerical and day-to-day administrative support activities required. Meets visitors to the Institute, takes questions and directs clients to the appropriate unit for action. Position is co-located with the University of Sciences, Techniques and Technologies of Bamako.

Position is supervised by the Director of the NIAID/NIH Mali Office.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

All selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a:

  • security clearance.

All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation and may be subject to a pre-employment medical exam. Selected candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time upon receipt of agency authorization.

Education Requirements:

Completion of Secondary School is required.

Experience:

At least Five (5) years of practical administrative support experience, of which two (2) years must have been with an international organization is required.

Language:

Bambara: Level 2 - Limited knowledge; speaking, reading & writing- This may be tested

Job Knowledge:

Office Management Standard operating procedures, excellent office practices and procedures required. Must have a good working knowledge of travel logistics, scheduling, communication


Skills And Abilities:
Office administration; Office Management Standard operation procedures; Post and NIH specific computer applications to include, but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Myservices, Post Administrative Software Suites; and SharePoint.

ADDITIONAL EMPLOYMENT CONSIDERATIONS

The following apply to EFMs, USEFMs, and AEFMs only:

  • Current employees who used a hiring preference to gain employment who are within their first 90 calendar days of employment are not eligible. This does not apply when the hiring mechanism is TEMP or the work schedule is intermittent or irregular.
  • Candidates with a hiring preference who have already accepted a conditional offer of employment may NOT be extended a second conditional offer of employment unless and until they withdraw their candidacy for the first position in writing.

The following apply to Locally Employed (LE) staff only:

  • Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible.
